James and Renée’s engagement shoot in Sydney’s CBD was such a fun one to capture. The city gave us the perfect mix of modern energy and old-world charm, almost like we’d stepped into a little corner of Europe without leaving the city, and as an engagement photographer, I love weaving a sense of timeless romance into urban spaces.

They were so easy together, moving through the streets with that natural comfort that comes from knowing each other deeply. There were no big poses or staged moments, just the two of them laughing, holding hands, and getting lost in their own little world while the city buzzed around them.

I love using Sydney’s architecture for sessions like this, the heritage buildings, the cobblestone-style laneways, the details you might usually walk past but suddenly feel so romantic when slowed down and seen through a lens. It gave their photos this timeless, classic feel that matched their style perfectly.

My approach is always about keeping things relaxed. I gave them small prompts, but honestly, the best moments came when they simply forgot about me and leaned into each other. That’s what makes photos feel real, when couples are just themselves.

If you’re dreaming of an engagement session that feels like your own little escape in the heart of Sydney, let’s plan something together.
