childhood memory?

Let's start with a question...

The one that stands out above the rest. A moment of nostalgia, of joy. A moment when you felt safe, happy, loved?

remember it...

I ask because my favourite childhood memory is the reason I do what I do. It’s the reason I believe so wholeheartedly in the power and importance of photography.

For me, my favourite memories are going to get film developed with my Dad. It’s something so simple, and so ordinary, but it speaks to who he was, and to something that made me who I am.

Yes, this is me!

Yes, this is me!

There was never a time that my Dad was without his beloved film camera, whether it was a family event, a dinner with friends or just a trip to the park. No matter what Dad had photographed, my siblings & I would hold our breath when it was time to get each roll of film developed. Had we kept our eyes open? Had he captured a moment that would make us all laugh?

Those precious moments with him, borne from his obsession with documenting our lives, always filled my heart with joy. More than that, his photos are a chance to connect with him even now that he has passed. For that, I’ll forever be grateful.

WHAT IS THAT MOMENT FOR YOU?

And what would you give to revisit it? To hold it in the palm of your hands, turn the pages and live it

once more?

LET'S CREATE NEW MEMORIES

HOLA, I'M CAROLINA...

but you can call me Caro!

I was born in Bogotá, Colombia and moved to Sydney in 2008, and my world has always revolved around photography. While my Dad’s film camera barely left the palm of his hand, he also understood the value of being in photos himself. He often organised for photographers to capture big life events – it wasn’t a birthday without someone there to photograph it! – and for that, I will be forever grateful.

Although my Dad is no longer with us, he lives on in his photos – both the photos he took, and the photos taken of him. My children know their Abuelito thanks to the legacy of photography that he passed down.

I can’t quite go back in time, but I can hold the memories he created in the palm of my hand. For me, this is the ultimate gift – and it’s something I’d love to help create not just for you, but for your children as well.

My Dad taught me so much through my life, most importantly, that there is always beauty to be found – if only you make time for it. And since becoming a parent myself, I’ve realised that even chaos has its own beauty (if you’re also a parent, you’ll know what I mean!). Having two little ones in our home is always an adventure.
